Quipper -> Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/21/2006 9:35:57 AM)

In the Community Lounge, a great game has been going on.

I know some of you make this folder your main stomping grounds and may not be aware of it, so this is a public service announcement! [:D]

It's in the Community Lounge forum. Come visit! It's a fun game, and very participatory!

http://forums.crosswalk.com/Hit_Me!__Help_Get_This_Thread_Up_to_100%2c000_Hits!/m_832837/tm.htm

(p.s. I checked the Terms of Service carefully and saw nothing there against a post such as this which gives others info about other threads of interest within the Community.)

Quipper -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/26/2006 8:10:19 AM)

We're at over 53,000 hits now! It's better than goofy golf! [;)]

Quipper -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/26/2006 4:51:15 PM)

The thread ultimately got to nearly 75,000 hits. Today it was pulled from the boards, however, b/c it was TOO popular, and it was apparently messing up the servers! So the thread is dead, long live the (memory of) the thread. [sm=hammerhead.gif]

Here's proof of our success, though. I took a screen shot before the evidence was gone forever, and have attached it to this post....

Quipper -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/26/2006 4:53:43 PM)

Well, I cannot get that attachment to open properly, although I'm certain I uploaded it properly--hopefully you all have better success!

All I get is a little red 'x' [&:]

tyrubonchi -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/26/2006 4:54:20 PM)

Your attachment does not work on my computer.

Quipper -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/26/2006 4:56:49 PM)

Bummer, Nicole. It's a regular .jpg--I don't get it! The actual file opens fine on my computer, but not the attachment.

tyrubonchi -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/26/2006 4:58:34 PM)

Well, okay then!

Quipper, where are you a missionary at? Or where are you going if you aren't there yet?

We're heading to Ecuador soon, God willing, to work with HCJB World Radio.

We're (hopefully!) finishing our pre-field ministry / deputation--i.e., finding monthly financial partners (churches and individuals).

It's not too much to say that it is harder for missionaries to get out the door now than at any time in the past hundred years. It's a challenging process. 80% or more of a missionary's support now comes from individuals. That lengthens the pre-field ministry timeframe, then, b/c one starts out personally knowing just so many potential supporters--i.e., acquaintences, friends, and family. It takes a lot of time to meet new people well enough so that they come to really believe in one's impending ministry.

We're about 1.5 years into this process, and 33% of our pledges are now in. It's hard being in 'limbo.' Although Ecuador is the country to which God has sent us, we still need to make ends meet here in the U.S.A. (without access to our mission account) until we can get there. Still, we know that at just the right time God will get us there.

That was a long answer to a short question, but I've got all this on my mind and it spills out easily! [sm=icon_smile.gif]

emjayzee -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/27/2006 9:40:31 AM)

Sheesh, they could have at least let us finish! I'm sure we would have hit 100,000 today. The agony of defeat...[:(]

Quipper -> RE: Don't Miss This Great Game! (1/27/2006 12:39:06 PM)

Yeah. This crying guy overstates the situation, but he's cute so here goes: [sm=crystreams.gif]
