Those are some breath taking photos of birds. Glad some folk are up tothe challenge. Went browsing in the computer store. I like my Kodak easy share BUT the price is about a couple hundred less and the mega pix have doubled. Oh well, I still have alot of fun with the one I have.

The test- If I missed anything it will be in one of the two sections where you had to put the letter of the answer in the blank. I am dyslexic and sometimes double/triple checking doesn't even help. Thing is that the prof knows that I know the stuff and that I have the issue so even if I messed it up I am sure she will pull me aside and do the sections orally on Monday. The dyslexia is the major part of my test taking anxiety. __ Stops the action of the developer ..........................A. Washer __ Activates the Silver-Halide Crystals ......................B. Perma Wash __ Fixes the chemistry ..............................................C. Developer __shortens the wash time ......................................... D. Fixer __rinses the chemistry off the paper .......................... E. Stop Bath I KNOW that E. Stop Bath goes on the first line but sometimes my brain shorts out and the E will end up on the second line. Like the lines move down a space, or the sentence moves. it is hard to explain. I know Words are black and white and sit flat on the paper BUT sometimes they look like they are dimensional, floating almost. My Brain works in 3-d in a 2-d world. It can be frustrating sometimes and other times it is a blessing because it has a great deal to do with my creativity. ~ezri

sounds like you'd be a good candidate for those voice programs. I haven't looked into them lately. Quite awhile ago they were getting "good" (not great).

Tripod question... Have been thinking of getting one, but I don't want to pay the earth... I saw this and wondered if it'd be any good for a first one? (Well second, but the first has long gone). Right now, I really want something light (which this is) and not megabucks. I know heavier tripods are more stable, but I wasn't thinking of using it in high winds or anything ~ more in subdued lighting.

Saw those in the store but never tried one. I find that for me, getting the camera on and off without a hassle is important. BTW, we have some nifty stuff on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/groups/738069@N21/

I dunno about the tripod either Agape- by looking at it It appears to be for a smaller camera. I could probably use it with Jerry's point -n- shoot but I don't think I'd trust it to hold my 35mm or my dSLR. All are a bit heavy. What kida camera do you have??? Oh, and while I am at it. I just wanna say I AM SO JEALOUS! that last outburst is RE: your coming upon that movie shoot in Bath. Some folks have all the luck! *sits and pouts* ~ezri

that tripod is very short. would be very useful but make sure it serves your purpose. it comes in various sizes as in, for point and shoot, slr and slr with huge lenses.

I am uploading photos from the art show as I type. I wanted to share one of Casey's with you. She was the gal that had so much problems with the one shot. THIS SHOT was one she did the day after the day I wrote about up top. LOL! she is the person that labeled my bit of packing tape the "Diffusy Thingy" She used the "Diffusy Thingy" on this particular shot. Drop dead gorgeous huh... and another funny thing- I named a macro shot of Triss's Lips "Butterfly" -I had another shot that one of the prof's called "Delicious" so I named it thus... I got there today and these two photos were on the same wall with the tags reversed. hehehehehe! Triss's Lips are now called "Delicious" She turned 4 shades of red when she saw it. She is standing there like CHANGE IT! as some folks come in behind us and say "WOW! that is an awesome shot. Cool name too!" Triss took off before I could introduce the folks to the owner of the delicious lips. (I am sitting here giggling to myself) see the Lips HERE ~ezri

that tripod is very short. It's 150cm ~ that's roughly 5' ~ how tall do you need them to go? it's mm, not cm. this tripod wraps around stuff. quite cool. gorillapod

Okay, thats a tall one to look so small. A compact digital might be okay on it. In the end you are the one lugging it around. I have a big heavy one I was given. i use it at home and on photo shoots where i KNOW that the camera will be set up right there and not be moved. I also have a el' cheap'o one I bought to carry to the sculpture garden. (20.00) that is REALLY light and has a carry bag with it. I would NEVER use it in high winds or in heavy traffic areas AT ALL. I had the girls with me when I used it last and they kinda stood back and made sure folks knew I was snapping and directing them around at the sculpture garden. I got the rest of the art show shots up. Least all I had on digital, I made my Photo 1 prof happy and took a roll of film as well- though it is color film and not black and white. She still smiled when I pulled out the film camera. It'll be a week before those are up. but if you wanna see the set it is here I have a shot of Casey's, Sarah's and mason's up (the kids I mentioned before) so you can see them too. ~ezri

H150 x W30 x D30cm As you came to on the website it is wrongly labled. the original is quote:
Intended for: Compact digital cameras Max weight load: 275g (9.7oz) Adapter: Universal ¼-in tripod screw Size: 15 x 3 x 3cm (5.9 x 1.2 x 1.2") Weight: 45.3g (1.6oz) Habitat: Anywhere! Methinks John Lewis is a bit messed up on this one. ~ezri

baring in mind that we only have so much disposable cash for hobbies, I would agree with one point in the article.. buy the best most stable tripod you can afford. Anything cheap will end up leaning against your wall instead of going with you. I haven't brought my tripod for my latest work because I am moving around so much.
