I have been trying to purchase a new computer from Dell since Dec, 27 th, it has been either delayed or canceled and reordered three times, my new delivery date is April 7 now. Has anyone else had this problem!

I only have made one purchase from Dell, and it was handled promptly. They usually are.

I don't recall having a problem with Dell, and I have ordered a number of things over the years. Their customer service is not the best however, so you may be one of the unlucky ones. All I can suggest is that you call them to complain. You know what they say about the squeaky wheel.

Seriously though, you should definitely check the newest price of the model you ordered. There is a good chance that the price has dropped in the last 3 months (or that you can get a better computer for the same price). If that's true, the at the very least Dell should give you a rebate on you purchase, or bump up the spec to match. (That could delay your order again, of course.)

Seeing that April 7 is almost an entire month away, they are fundamentally broken in their service. If they can't get a computer to you in less than a month, they are not worth it.

Cancel and get a refund. You will probably find a better computer for the price already.

You didn't order through costco/sams club did you?

I almost did last year but it said on the website it would take 6 weeks. I had a better laptop shipped out in two business days direct from Dell.

Call them and either have them cancel it or upgrade your order to the latest model and ask them to ship it priority.

Thank you for all your responses regarding my Dell purchase, my first computer in 2000 was a Dell, the one I am currently using was purchased from Dell in 2003, so I am ordering directly from them and have had no problems with other orders like new printers, cartridges, etc, but this has topped anything I have ever been involved in, they say it is in production and this last order was upgraded and discounted, but if you don't ever get the order nothing has been accomplished, my monitor is about to go out, it keeps changing colors, etc, so I am holding on by the thread, if this one is canelled I plan to just go to Office Depot and get a HP. I cannot believe what has happened with Dell with this order!

I've heard stories like this before about Dell. I personally have never had issues with them. However, PC's I've ordered for other people have had issues.

Did you order a Dell Zino? It is really popular and I have heard many complaints of delays (especially if you ordered the Piano Black lid and a Blue-Ray Drive).

If you really want the particular model you ordered call and complain as some people (even those who ordered the Zino) have been able to get theirs shipped faster. Also try and get some compensation like free shipping, extra warranty, or upgraded features. Months is too long to wait. If you're not particular about the model you ordered I'd recommend calling and complaining and getting upgraded to one of their similar models (with better specs) that they do have ready to ship.

Let us know how it goes...
