This is for those of you who were born in the 80's and remember growing up in the 90's as a young kid.

You know you're a 90's kid if...

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

You just cant resist finishing this... "Iiiiiiin west philladelphia born and raised..."

You remember TGIF on ABC and wouldnt miss it

Down down baby down down the roller coster sweet sweet baby Ill never let you go..chimie chie cocoa puffs chimmie chimmie rock, chimmie chimiie cocoa puffs chimmie chimmie rock.....

You remember when Kurt Cobain, 2Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

You begged for some GAK, and when you got that they came out with scented GAK, and when you got that they came out with funny scented GAK.....

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You danced to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls

You remember the craze, then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.....

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...

You used to listen to the radio all day long just to record "Your FAVORITE song of ALL time"....with a tape recorder held up to the radio loL!!

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show.

Captain Planet.

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green Ranger were meant to be together. (this was meant for young 80s children)

When playing power rangers with friends you fought over who got to be who............and still all ended up being Tommy.

You remember when super nintendo's became popular.

You always wanted to send in a tape to America's Funniest Home Videos... but never taped anything funny.

You remember watching home alone 1, 2 , and 3........and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders"

"I've fallen and I can't get up"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

Two words... Trapper Keeper.

"Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS PHANTS PHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE
he jumped so high high high he touched the sky sky sky and he didnt come back back back til the forth of july ly ly he jumped so low ow ow he stubbed his toe toe toe and thats the end end end of the elephants show show show

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players

Writing M.A.S.H. notes.

You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"

You played and/or collected "Pogs"

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere

You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles

Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.(pencils.notebooks.binders.etc.)

You remember when the new Beanie Babies and talking Elmo were always sold out.

You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes.

You remember a time before the WB.

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You know the Macarena by heart.

"Talk to the hand" ... enough said

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"

When we were younger:

Before the MySpace frenzy...

Before the Internet & text messaging...

Before Sidekicks & iPods...

Before MIKE JONES...

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX...

...Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night.

When light up sneakers were cool.

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

When 2Pac and Biggie where alive.

When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

Way back.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

Wait Wait....let's not forget OLD NICK shows....Alex Mac, Salute Your Shorts, My Brother and Me, Rocko's Modern Life, the ORIGINAL Rugrats, DOUG!! Cousin Skeeter, Hey Arnold, Clarissa Explains it All, The OLD All That, Pete and Pete yeah the OLD nick days rules

Well, the second one I listed here would definitely apply to all people who were kids well before the '90s who ever went to a skating rink. The first one, I think, was maybe popular in the '80s. Maybe they just used that commercial over and over and over.

I know I'm not a '90s kid because I don't know a lot of the stuff listed here.

I was a teen in the 90's and I don't know what a lot of that stuff is either. I guess I was just an "out-of-the-loop" teen

I had my first child in 99...I loved the 90s

One you forgot ...

You know who Brenda, Dylan, Brandon, Kelly, Donna, Steve, Andrea and David are and what zip code they lived in.

I was born in 1991, so most of this I don't remember. But Oregon Trail day in computer class, all the old Nick shows... that stuff I remember. And being a crazy Nintendo fan, yes.

Ah sigh -- yep them were the days. But I was considered old by then - I mean after all I was married in 91, and had my first child in 1993. I'll have to ask my younger siblings about some of this since they were all elementary or highschool kids during those years!

Oregon Trail ROCKS!!! Our school still uses a version of this! I have a version that I should really see if it would work on the kids's computer.

I remember when our school got it's first computer lab! Now that's scary considering my kids's school has a laptop for EVERY 4th grader in the building as well as every 5th grader and every other grade has a computer pod for every two classrooms!

In the early 90's to have a computer at home - well in my neck of the woods you were considered rich and possibly even a snob.

Anyway - off to bed, something I don't get nearly as much of as I did in the 90's. I do miss that!

Blessings,

Garsy

I had to chuckle a little at this 'cause we got our first computer (a Commodore 64) in 91 or 92, and we weren't rich by any stretch of the imagination. Of course I think someone gave it to us. . .but that's beside the point.

My kids are totally flumoxed at the thought that I was in highschool before I had any access to a computer as well.

Of course my kids can't imagine living without one.

Oh and at the library, my kids can't imagine having to look up a book in an actual physical card catalog! Remember those big old boxes with all the drawers and little cards? Now it's all computerized.

And remember when you could actually fill a scrip and didn't have to worry about the pharmacies computer system being down?

Blessings,

Garsy

I was born on '89 so I grew up with most of those things. One thing I don't think they mention was Pokemon cards...they were huge!
But all those old Nick shows, they were awesome. *sigh* I loved my childhood.

You just brought back some great memories. I was born in '82 and grew up in the 90's. We had so many great things. Way better cartoons than kids today! The Bulls were the best! I remember watching every games as a family, even before they started winning championships. It seems like so long ago. You notics how some of those things are coming back:....

rainbow bright
G.I. Joe
Popples
Strawberry Shortcake

Boy do I feel old! A nostalgia thread on th 90's!. My oldest son was born in 1990, my other two in 1992 and 1994, so I read the thread thinking of them. And as a parent, I remember a lot of this, especially the Lisa Frank school supplies my sons wouldn't be caught dead with, but my daughter loved! Some of these things came before the 90s, like the Mary Mack rhyme, that my younger sister, who just turned 40, learned in kindergarten.

Oregon Trail day in computer class

It took me an entire school year just to beat OT.

The early 90s' were the days of my cuteness.

Being obsessed with Power Rangers.
Ken dol... action figures.
Playing a plastic guitar backwards while singing the lyrics to Billy Ray Cyrus.

and so much more.

I miss my light-up sneakers.

. . . but I don't miss my entire family dying of dysentery every week in computer class.

This thread kind of seems funny to me, as if the '90s are a part of ancient history! Does anyone else feel that way?

I have a facebook account and one of the games I can play is Oregon Trail. Dysentery is still one of the things you can die from. Among some other disgusting ways to die.

When I teach of group of 4 and 5 year olds that don't know how to play Simon Says or Red light, Green light, yeah it does feel like the 90s is ancient history. And it was 5 years ago when I was a teacher.

Hey! Don't forget the Lion King!
Before Amy grant married Vince Gill!
Crazy hair days!
Melrose place!
Sequined prom dresses!
Senior Skip Day!
Mustangs were the thing!
"Talk to the hand!"
Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, TLC (the group, not the channel!)
Mark walberg was a singer, not an actor!
Jurassic Park!
Man those were the days. I smile when I think about all of that stuff. I also have to laugh at some of it because it seems so absurd!
